What do I do with my old medications?

Some of the most common questions I get about handling old medicines are:
- “Can I just flush them down the toilet?”
- “Can you take them back and maybe give them to the poor?”
- “Will it hurt the environment if I just put them with my garbage”
Unfortunately when medications are put with the garbage or flushed down the toilet, they ultimately wind up in our water supplies or leach out from the land fills into the ground water.
It has become a major health issue as these drugs may make it back into our food or water.
