Introduction to the Medicine Mentor

Posted by Risan | May 14, 2008 .

Hello and welcome to my blog site: Medicine Mentor

What I hope to do is help resolve the confusion that exists and “Bridge the Gap” between Traditional and Alternative Medicine. It seems to me that no one is doing that right now. I go to Traditional Medicine sites such as WebMD and get their take on Health. I go to Dr. Mercola’s site and get his take on Natural Medicine. All the information I am able to gather is either one or the other, but not a blend of the two.

No one seems to be addressing the confusion that exists in the mind of people about what to do if they believe in both Traditional and Alternative Medicine.

Here’s who I am: I am a Pharmacist for over 30 years as well as a practicing Chiropractor for over 20 years. I have owned my own Health Food Supplement company as well as managed a chain of Health Food Stores. I have been a student of Health, Wellness, and Longevity for many, many years. I have owned my own Pharmacy as well as a Durable Medical Equipement company where we provided walkers, wheelchairs, hospital beds, oxygen, etc to clients. So I feel I bring a different understanding…a blending of Traditional and Alternative Medicine…that you won’t find anywhere else.

I know people take prescription drugs…afterall, I fill their prescriptions every day. And here’s where the confusion sets in….

Imagine if you will—–

  • Mrs. Jones gets a prescription for blood pressure medication from her MD, but the side effects she experiences such as tiredness, mental fatigue, and lack of energy make her wonder if she should even be taking this drug. She asks herself, “Is the cure worst than the condition???”
  • She goes to the Health Food store and the clerk says, “We have somthing natural that will work”.
  • She goes to her Chiropractor and he says, ” I think I can help your blood pressure without the use of drugs”.
  • She speaks with her neighbor who says she was on that drug and it made her worse.
  • She goes to get her hair done and the hairdresser says that medicine almost killed her boss.
  • She talks to her therapist and he says, ” You must change the meaning you give to things, and then your blood pressure will go down on its own”.
  • She goes to the gym and the instructor says, “We can get that BP down with the proper exercise”.
  • Her nutritionist tells her the right combination of foods will bring it down.
  • The TV newsman reports of a new and better drug than the one she’s taking.

Do you see all the confusion Mrs. Jones gets from the different points of view? ……….. Who can help her put it all into perspective?

I’ll tell you…it’s someone who has been a part of both ways of thinking. Someone who can objectively root out what may actually be in Mrs. Jones’ best interest. In fact, it may take the coordination of both Traditional and Alternative Medicine to get her blood pressure down, but you need someone who knows both sides.

I subscribe to over 30 daily health reports from all over the world and from all perpectives. I see what is the new and better. What really works and what doesn’t.

This is not something I started out to do, but so many of the people I come in contact with are so uncertain. And when I spend some time with them explaining the options, they thank me and refer others to me to help.

I see the need. I have the passion. I want to help.
