Yes, believe it or not…
The GILA MONSTER is a venomous lizard that lives in the southwestern United States.

And in 2005 the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) approved a synthetic version of a protein from the Gila Monster’s saliva for the management of Type 2 Diabetes. The name of the drug is Exenatide and is availabe by prescription. It is sold as the brand name Byetta.
